Heb 5:8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered.
Even though he is the Son of God, he learned to obey. He learned through divinely ordained suffering. Though this is inexplicable that Jesus in his divinity had to learn obedience, we can glean from this something for ourselves.
Since he suffered by God’s hand and it is questionable from our perspective that he needed to, it is clear we do need this.
No one wishes suffering but we will learn as he did. This is his way. This is why we are to receive suffering with joy as hard as it may be. Suffering at God’ hand is necessary. As athletes and soldiers we need this discipline so that God can make us into the likeness of his Son and be made effective ministers.
If you have prayed “Change me!” you have asked for discipline. When you asked to be used you have invited suffering and pain. By becoming a Christ follower you have been made sons and daughters. These are loved and God will give his best and produce fruit in us.
Thank him now for past suffering and request grace to persevere with joy the next. You are being made into the likeness of Christ. How blessed we are!
